CHILLI FRIED NORTH (Darbucka - Clerkenwell EC1) - Thursdays, monthly - "global beat club featuring cutting edge live music alongside resident DJ & host Jamie Renton with the cream of dance sounds from around the world. CLUB KALI - 1st & 3rd Fridays of the month, "Bollywood, Bhangra, Arabic, R&B and dance classics spiced up by DJ Ritu, Riz & Qurra at the world's biggest Asian music based LGBT club!", the Dome, Tufnell Park, 10pm on, £7

DARBUCKA (Clerkenwell EC1) (right) "Relax in Darbucka's beautiful Bedouin basement bar with a drink & some wondrous music.  Why not begin your night by eating in the airy new space upstairs, the Gallery Bistro, where every month we exhibit art from around the world."  WORLD MUSIC NIGHT & LEBANESE FEAST every Friday & Saturday night 6pm to 1am, world music entertainment, music & belly dancer!" Entrance £7

PLANET EGYPT - last Thursday of the month, Anne White's spectacular monthly belly dance showcase, doors 7pm, 2 full belly dance sets plus DJ (to 1am), entrance £12.  The majority of the dancers are professionals (such as Shafeek Ibrahim, pictured left), including the cream of UK dancers & top performers visiting from overseas.  In addition, there is a short open platform to nurture fledgling dancers under the auspices of their teachers.  Dance slots are booked up months in advance - contact Anne early!  Plenty of seating, food available, come early to grab the best seats.  Darbucka (Clerkenwell EC1)   

SAQARAH - London's newest monthly belly dance party, organised by Nafiseh & Eshta - "come celebrate your love for the dance at Saqarah, a party designed by dancers for dancers - enjoy the stellar showcase, featuring outstanding dancers then, after the showcase, it's time to let your hair down & shimmy along to a real mix of Egypt's finest music - the events are informal, intimate & social.  We want to bring together a wide mix of dancers from all different circles" - Saturdays roughtly in the middle of the month, Horse Bar (Waterloo SE1), doors 8pm, tix £7/10

STRANGER THAN PARADISE (right) - usually last Sunday of the month at Favela Chic (Hoxton EC2), "a twisted exotic romp of Balkan beats, gypsy laments & cossack high kicks", with Forty Thieves, 7pm to 3am, show 9pm (live acts, DJs & burlesque), entry £5 before 10pm then £7

TURKISH DELIGHT (left) - Saturdays - weekly party to 4am at cool DJ bar Play (Clerkenwell EC1), "Turkish Delight brings hot music from sunny countries.  DJ Can & DJ Cahit play Turkish, Arabic, Latin, R&B, mezdeke & the best of world music," with belly dancer show, £10 after 11pm (ladies free before 10pm then £5 to 11pm, gentlemen £5 before 11pm)

VIVA VIVA (Hornsey N8) - Saturdays - rai, north African & Arabic sounds, 830pm on, £5, "Live music with Abdelkader Saadoun & friends plus DJs & guest musicians. World music from Algeria & north Africa with a mix of oriental jazz, latin, belly dance, fusion, flamenco & rock.  Book your table to try our world food specials!" 

YALLA! (right) (Oak Bar, Green Lanes, Stock Newington N16) - 2nd & last Saturdays of the month -  middle eastern & Asian night, "Mediterranean club night, join us from 9pm until 3am and Rock the Kasbah with Turkish, Greek & Arabic music from DJs Kappa G, Apollo Flo, Kat & guest DJs.  Girate with our belly dancers & taste our lavish cocktails," £3 before 10pm, £6 thereafter
