"This is a unique event bringing together 2 incendiary styles of dance. Special guest star Princess Farhana of Hollywood appears exclusively to teach & perform. Plus international king of burlesque DJ Chaz Royale will be spinning some smooth beats with Peter Von Sleaze. Also starring Sapphira, burlesque sweetheart Violet Crumble, banjo playing comedian Des O'Connor, sacred earth belly dancer Hannah, tribal fusion belly dancing trion AnaRkali & host Miss Ivy Paige."
In the afternoon before the show, Princess Farhana will teach 2 workshops - her only UK workshops this summer!

Workshop 2: 'Belly dancing with fans' - "Add a new dimension to your belly dancing! Princess Farhana will teach you how to dance with smaller hand-fans & Sally Rand-style ostrich feather fans. Learn hand & arm positions, dramatic poses, basic fan technique, Asian- & Flamenco-influenced & 'conceal-&-reveal' burlesque moves ..."

All you have to do is send us one of your own original photographs, with the theme of 'BELLY DANCE'.
The competition is open to everyone who loves belly dance, whether you are a dancer, teacher, student or just love to watch belly dance ...
All entries must be sent to the competition email address bellydancecompetition@googlemail.com& must comply with all competition rules (see below).
You can enter as many times as you like!

5pm on Monday 08 September 2008 - plenty of time to get your photos to us!
Competition rules:
1. Entries must comply with all the competition rules.
2. The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over, though please note that the DVD will only be posted to a UK address & the Shimmy Shake Show takes place in London on 14 September 2008. Prizes are not transferable.
3. The decision of London Belly Dance is final & no correspondence will be entered into.
4. If you win first prize but have already bought a ticket or tickets, we will put you in contact with Shimmy Shake organiser Sapphira about a refund - so hurry up & buy your tickets!
5. Entries received after the closing date (5pm on Monday 08 September 2008) will not count.
6. To enter, email your photo, together with a sentence or two about what inspired you to take it, to the competition email address at bellydancecompetition@googlemail.com - only one photo per email please.
7. Only photographs in the required format will count: this means photos in JPEG format up to a maximum of 50kb (sorry larger photos slow down the website too much, & not all formats are supported - we are not technical wizards!). You can resize pictures using for instance the Shrink Pictures website - it's really easy to use! Choose 'resize' then click on 'browse' to choose the photo you want to resize, then click on 'resize' & wait while it does its stuff - it's as simple as that!
8. Please supply a daytime telephone number - so we can call you to let you know you've won!
9. All entries must be the entrant's own original work & must not have been previously published anywhere.
10. The winner & runner up will be notified as soon as possible, but within 3 working days of the closing date. Others will not be notified. Winners' names (first name & last initial, or first initial & surname, together with place of residence) will be placed on the website (so you know we really did hand out the prizes!).
11. The first prize winner will be presented with their prize at the Shimmy Shake Show in September. We would like to use a photo of the presentation & the winner at the workshop on the website (though this is not compulsory if you are shy!).
12. Entries will not be acknowledged. No responsibility is taken for entries lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete through eg virus, technical problems or server failures etc. Proof of entry is not proof of receipt.
13. By entering the competition, an entrant agrees that their photograph may be posted on the London Belly Dance website. (In legalese: The entrant grants an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence for the full period of copyright to publish the photograph on the London Belly Dance website or to otherwise use the entry in so far as is relevant to this competition in any way and at any time. London Belly Dance may cut, edit, crop or arrange the entry as it sees fit.) All other rights in the photograph are retained by the entrant (ie you).
14. More legalese: You undertake & warrant that images submitted do not infringe intellectual property rights or the privacy or any other rights of any third party. Entrants must ensure that any person(s) whose image is used in an entry has given valid consent for the use of their image or has waived any rights they may have in the image submitted; where such person is under 16, the consent of that person's parent or guardian must have been obtained. Failure to adequately demonstrate such consent to the satisfaction of London Belly Dance may result in the entrant's disqualification & forfeiture of any prize.
